Mimi Carter Named Senior Vice President and General Manager for Proof Strategies

Carter Brings Extensive Marketing Strategies Experience to Agency In Multiple Sectors Including Health Sciences, Association/Nonprofit, Philanthropic Causes, Financial Services, and Technology

WASHINGTON, April 25, 2016 — Proof Strategies announced today the promotion of Mimi Carter to Senior Vice President and General Manager in the Washington, DC office. Her communications experience spans education, arts, health, sciences, technology, and financial services toward helping organizations achieve their goals.

“Mimi Carter brings an integrated communications approach to serving our clients and has created tremendous energy in our team to build the office,” said Bruce MacLellan, CEO at Proof Strategies. “The combination of digital marketing, media relations and influencer marketing gives our team the tools to help build the reputation and brands of our clients,” he added.

Carter joined Proof Strategies in 2015 as Vice President following more than 20 years of experience in marketing and public relations, including digital marketing. As a former communications lead for two national nonprofits, she has a deep bench of knowledge in message development and experience as a national spokesperson with a track record of objective media coverage during crisis situations.

“Because it is privately held, Proof enjoys a unique position of being a different kind of agency,” said Carter. “It’s mission to achieve measurable results for both clients and its staff, with an established culture to support that mission, made this leadership opportunity very attractive.”

Previously, Carter was vice president of communications and marketing at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and Corcoran College of Art + Design, overseeing digital, design, and media relations for both the museum and the college, which merged in 2014 with the National Gallery of Art and George Washington University. She led teams that raised gallery attendance by 15 percent during her first year and 20 percent in the next year. Her marketing and communications efforts for the college resulted in a 10 percent increase in applications.

Prior to the Corcoran, Carter was interim director of communications at the Epilepsy Foundation of America, working with their in-house communications, creative, and digital teams. She also worked as assistant marketing director and publicist at Virilion, an interactive marketing and communications agency.

In earlier consulting roles, her past clients include Hanover Investment Group, National Alliance for Aging Research, National Geographic Education, and the Society for Nuclear Medicine, among others. She is also founder of “DC Communicators,” a Washington regional group of communications professionals.

Carter is a graduate of George Washington University’s Columbian College and also holds a Masters’ degree in journalism and public policy from American University.
