The Importance of Investing in Community: A Proof Strategies Case Study

Investing in a well-established network is key when starting, building or expanding your professional career.

Your network, comprised of colleagues, mentors, peers or a mixture all three, is a connection of relationships that you’ve been able to cultivate throughout the years. But it also gives you an opportunity to work together and give something back.

At Proof, we set out to do just that last week by kicking off the month with a mid-quarter networking reception in partnership with MGA Commercial Real Estate. Hosted at Luke’s Lobster,  “For The Love of The Lobster” reception brought together local leaders and industry professionals from a variety of industries and organizations for an opportunity to connect over complimentary lobster and drinks. Whether it was WAMU, National Geographic, Audubon Society or, one of our favorite former clients, CenturyLink, we could all rally around the fact that we learned from being together, and exchanging ideas to support a good cause.   

A portion of the evening’s proceeds benefited The Ocean Foundation – a non-profit community organization uniquely missioned to support, strengthen, and promote those dedicated to supporting ocean environments around the world. More on the reception and photos from the evening can be viewed here.

Furthermore, DC Communicators, founded by Proof US General manager Mimi Carter, is a network of communications and marketing professionals in the Washington, DC, metro area who are interested in emerging trends in earned, paid and digital media. This group is an example of a community that meets quarterly to do just that – have a meeting of the minds on today’s latest marketing and communications trends. Program topics have ranged from content marketing and crisis communication to activating your company’s influencers and best practices for social media.
